AMD’s long rumored Radeon HD6990 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) formerly known by the code-name Antilles is official now. The company has sent out a press images of the card and there are no official specs or launch dates hinted so far.

Based on some hints the Radeon HD 6990 has 3840 Stream Processors (that’s 1920 per one Cayman core) and will support up to 4096 MB of memory with a bandwidth of 307.2 GB/s.

Amazing, isn’t it !!!

AMD and NVIDIA has a bottle-neck competition as NVIDIA is planning to launch a dual-GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 by mid-march 2011.

The card seemingly double powered of Radeon HD 6970M on one PCB where it comes to a gargantuan 3,000-plus shaders and coupled Memory bandwidth.

What application can force this ultra-powered offering ?????
