Sharp, in association with a Japanese broadcaster NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai) designed a prototype 85-inch LCD with a 7680×4320 picture resolution. Recently, NHK tested Super Hi-Vision broadcasts without losing any detail. The Supe Hi-Vision offers 16 times the resolution of 1080p HDTV. However, the initial public trail of Super Hi-Vision aren’t even set to begin until 2020.

Sharp claims this as World’s first 85-inch Direct-view LCD compatible with Super Hi-Vision. The UV panel of the gigantic screen produces 300cd/m2 brightness and 10 bits per color. It requires atleast 24Gbps of bandwidth and supports sound up to 22.2 channel. This product stands as a power statement for emerging future technologies.
