The Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi is known for its presence in a number of industries including air purifier, powerbank and wearable tech etc. Considering that the Google has launched the Daydream project for VR content, it was only a short while before Xiaomi came up with its own VR headset. The GM of the brand, Tang Mu reveals that the brand is indeed working on a VR headset, which might get launched in August around the world. According to the executive, since Project Daydream is already rolling in China and none of the VR existing in the market has been optimised for MIUI, the handset maker decided to make its own. The GM was also of the opinion that only Xiaomi can manufacture a VR headset that will give the best experience to all Xiaomi users with underlying integration in MIUI.
As of now, only HTC, Huawei, Samsung and Lenovo have a dedicated VR headsets that best support their smartphones. There are some massively popular VR brands like Occulus and Zeiss, however, they are not optimised for all smartphones in the market. Since Xiaomi has a large user base around the world and is expected to price the VR headset reasonably like always, it is bound to sell well with its users. Xiaomi has also assured that the VR headset will also comply completely with the Google Daydream, content development platform with an integrated support for MIUI. This sounds like a perfect combination for Xiaomi users around the world.
