Apple has upgraded its AirPods wireless headphones lineup to introduce the new AirPods Pro, a pair of noise cancelling, waterproof wireless earphones that are priced significantly higher than the regular AirPods. Not just price, the AirPods Pro are also much larger and come with better battery life and a larger charging case. The AirPods Pro are priced at a cool $250 in the US and Rs 25,000 in India.
The AirPods Pro are Apple's first pair of earbuds to sport active noise cancellation. This is made possible by an in-ear design that secures the earbuds around your ear for a more secure fit. The earbuds also come with claimed sweat and water resistance.
The wireless charging case is much bigger this time around and offers four-and-a-half hours of listening time on a single charge with active noise cancellation enabled, and up to 24 hours of listening time using additional charges from the case.
Thanks to active noise cancellation, the AirPods Pro will be able to minimise outside noise and allow you to listen to audio clearly even at lower volumes. The pair uses “two microphones combined with advanced software to continuously adapt to each individual ear and headphone fit”.
There is also a toggle called 'Transparency Mode' that lets the user switch active noise cancellation off, allowing you to listen to ambient sounds as well.
AirPods Pro also comes with a feature called Ear Tip Fit Test. This, Apple says after you place AirPods Pro in each ear, its algorithms and the microphones in each AirPod can detect whether the ear tip is the right size and fits well. It can also suggest if you just need to adjust the tips for a better seal.
