Apple is the world's most valuable corporation, a fact not hidden from the general public. With an estimated net cash reserve of about $245 billion - growing by about $45 billion each year - Apple needs to cover all bases to make sure it stays relevant.
A part of staying relevant involves taking active part in industries that are booming, one of which is digital content. Analyst firm JPMorgan deemed Netflix the "best strategic fit" for Apple in the content business, considering the former's prowess in the field.
Of course, it won't be an easy task to accomplish given the $148 billion valuation of Netflix alongside the fact that it won't sell at the market rate, especially to a firm that has more cash reserves than most nations in the world.
However, if indeed that happens, it would be Apple's biggest acquisition till date. It would overshadow the big $3 billion Beats acquisition back in 2014. Netflix would align well in the entertainment business for Apple, which currently consists of the HomePod, Beats audio, and Apple Music.
Premium home audio brand Sonos might also be on the list of possible acquisitions by Apple as it fits right into the smart home audio segment that the company has been trying to crack with the HomePod.
