Avengers: Endgame, the fourth and possibly last Avengers movie, is scheduled to release on April 26, 2019, just shy of a year after its prequel.
After Thanos snapped his fingers - at the end of Infinity War - effectively wiping out half the world's population, it is up to the remaining Avengers to reclaim what is lost and defeat the supervillain. Here are some popular fan theories that suggest what would happen in this epic finale.
This plausible theory is based on the Infinity Gauntlet comic book series. It involves Nebula putting in the effort to track down Thanos, stealing his gauntlet, and reversing all the deeds. This could happen in the movie, just saying.
S.H.I.E.L.D or Supreme Headquarters International Espionage and Law-Enforcement Division will likely require a new leader in times of distress. And, if the first teaser is a yardstick to go by, Tony Stark could be alive and able to return back to Earth. This would give him the chance to become the supreme leader, a role he is suited for.
In the comic books, Thanos has been seen to be wooing Lady Death, a ploy for which could be snapping his fingers and ending half the life on Earth. We could see Lady Death appearing in Endgame, possibly even forcing him to overturn his decision.
Wait, what?! Read before you jump to conclusions. In an attempt to seek redemption for his deeds, Thanos 'could' team up with the Avengers to fight against what could be a greater evil. Although extremely unlikely, this would give a rather unusual twist to the finale.
Jarvis has been Stark's trusted virtual assistant ever since the first movie. But, now with Tony stuck in space, he might not be able to make it out alive; his brain could, however. The Avengers could turn the genius' brain into an assistant that guides them through their battles. Downey Jr. has already confirmed he won't be doing any more Iron Man movies.
With the remaining Avengers thinking about a way to restore sanity, they could offer Thanos a swap-in. This is in sync with the fact that the actors playing these superheroes have ended their contract with Marvel already.
What if the plot isn't actually what you think it is? One solid theory claims that the snapped superheroes aren't actually dead, but have just been sent to an alternate universe. Bringing them back from there is probably easy, well easy for superhero fantasy films.
One of the most-talked about storylines for Avengers: Endgame has got to be related to the Time Stone. Stealing this Infinity Stone which essentially reverses time and its effect - we saw that in Doctor Strange - would be the most foolproof plan to just reverse what Thanos did and beat him at his own game.
