Electric cars are the future of the automotive industry, yet India is lagging behind in adopting the new trend. However, a Mumbai-based startup may just have hinted that things are about to change in the Indian automotive industry. A company called Storm Motors unveiled an electric car called Storm R3.

The car has been designed for megacities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. The vehicle is compact with two doors and uses reverse trike configuration as there are two wheels in the front and a single wheel at the rear. The small cabin is suited for 2-3 persons including the driver. The seat will be offered with two options which would be either single bench seat or two captain seats. The car will be offered in three configurations - R3 Pure, R3 Current, and R3 Bolt.

The former two variants will have a capacity of 80 km on a single charge, whereas the Bolt will offer up to 120 km. Storm Motors claims that the car can be fully charged in about 6-8 hours using standard charger and the same can be achieved in two hours with fast chargers. The Storm R3 is powered by a 13 kW high-efficiency motor with a peak torque of 48 Nm. The R3 will measure 2,907 mm in length, 1,450 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height, with a 2,012 mm wheelbase.

The makers have ensured that the exterior looks, as well as the interior features, are appealing to the Millennials. The design is quite trendy with a muscular front bumper, dual colour with white roof, and a sunroof. The car is made with sturdy high-strength steel space-frame chassis which will instil a lot of confidence in the buyers. There are hydraulic front brakes and drum brakes for the rear wheel. The Storm R3 will be offered in four colour options which would be Red, Black, Neon Blue, and Electric Blue.
