The Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series is one of the biggest game franchises in the world. With GTA 5 nearing the end of its life cycle, all eyes are on when and where GTA 6 will come out. However, with reports of Sony looking to acquire Take-Two Interactive, things could change drastically.
To put things into context, Take-Two Interactive owns Rockstar Studios, the production company behind GTA series. So, if Sony is to take over Take-Two, it would have complete authority to make GTA 6, and all subsequent GTA releases, exclusive to the Playstation console. This would act as a major setback for Microsoft's Xbox, given the demand for GTA among console gamers.
Not just GTA, this takeover could also lead games like Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, XCOM, and WWE to become exclusive to just Sony's gaming console. If this happens, it could act as a huge deterrent for potential Xbox buyers in the future. Users would be able to experience these games only on PS5 and other generations of the Playstation.
As for GTA 6, Rockstar Games hasn't yet announced a release date but we can expect it to come out within the next couple of years. Rumours suggest the game will be set in Vice City and South America.
