At its 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced the broadband product from its telecom department - Jio Fiber. Previously known as Jio GigaFiber, the broadband service has been rebranded to Jio Fiber at launch. Jio Fiber has been in beta testing for a few months now, and will be available commercially to all prospective customers starting September 5 this year. In case you are in the lookout for details, here is a quick roundup of what all CEO Mukesh Ambani announced at the event yesterday.
Jio Fiber plans will be priced between Rs 700 and Rs 10,000 per month, depending on user needs. Additionally, it was also revealed that Jio Fiber customers will be eligible for free voice calls (using fixedline service) to any Indian mobile or fixedline number forever. Jio Fiber plans start at 1000Mbps for the basic plan.
Mukesh Ambani also announced that Jio Fiber plans will come bundled with subscriptions to leading premium OTT streaming services - which could possibly include the likes of Netflix, Hotstar Premium, and Amazon Prime Video.
That's not all; Jio Prime customers will also likely get access to an exciting new service - Jio First-Day-First-Show - which is claimed to allow access to movies on the day of their theatrical release. Reliance Jio has not yet revealed any major details on this service.
And, finally, Jio Prime subscribers will get access to Jio Postpaid Plus. This "platinum grade service" will help in priority doorstep SIM setup service, family plans with the ability to share data, international roaming, and convenient phone upgrades.
Jio Fiber Welcome Offer has been announced that helps Jio Fiber users avail free HD or 4K LED TVs when subscribing to the company's annual plans.
