Jio Phone was launched in India a couple of years back as a great value proposition for users that want 4G VoLTE services at an affordable price point.
However, ever since launch, one thing that users have complained about is the lack of Internet hotspot sharing, which prevented them from sharing their data benefits with other smartphone users.
Reliance Jio has now finally started testing the latest software update that enables hotspot functionality on the phone. Sources close to the matter told KillerFeatures that the update was first issued late last week for certain models of the feature phone. Other variants are expected to get it soon.
To see whether your Jio Phone unit has the hotspot functionality, check the new Internet Sharing option in the Settings app. There will be a new Wi-Fi hotspot option in this menu. If not, update your phone to the latest software build and wait for it to arrive.
The feature is currently being rolled out gradually, as mentioned, and will arrive on your Jio Phone within the next few days or weeks depending on the model.
To use the Reliance Jio Phone Wi-Fi Hotspot feature, go into the Settings app and open the Internet Sharing option under Networks and Connectivity. The Wi-Fi hotspot option will be visible her, turned off by default.
You just have to enable it to access the new feature. You can rename the Wi-Fi and also change the password as per your preferences. Once it is enabled, a Wi-Fi hotspot icon will be shown in the notification bar.
Voila! You can now share your data packs with your friends and family or anyone else who is in need of a quick data boost on the go!
