Reliance Jio, disruptor in India's telecom scene, has released its latest app on Android.
The new JioBrowser is now available on Google Play Store and claims to be a "fast and lite" mobile browser - one among dozens on Android. It has a file size of just about 4.8MB, however it may change slightly depending on the device.
Bringing with it an Indian touch, the JioBrowser comes with support for 8 major regional Indian languages, allowing users in several Indian cities to access the Internet in their local language. Language support is offered for Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali.
The JioBrowser also has a home page filled with relevant news, latest happenings, and news-based videos curated in sections. You can even customise the news feed to get updates for specific areas or locations.
Other features include quick website links, private browsing, downloads, and more. It is a free app on Android, with revenue supported by ads and native content. There is no word on if and when the mobile browser will be made available on iOS.
