After a host of Chinese smartphones makers entering the Indian smartphone market, another one has set foot in the country. The new entrant is called Coolpad and it has brought the Dazen 1 smartphone to India to mark its arrival. Before we begin evaluating the Dazen 1, we would just like to say that Chinese smartphone makers have made the smartphone market a very competitive place as they rely on offering more value for money than most of the brands that have already been in India for some time now.
Coolpad Dazen 1 comes with a simplistic bar form factor and polycarbonate make that is pretty run of the mill for a budget segment smartphone. However, the rear panel of the handset comes with a unique matte finish that enhances the overall look of the handset.
The Chinese handset maker has placed a decent 5-inch display on the front panel of the handset that will appeal to an average multimedia lover. Moreover, the display comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which means users can enjoy HD visuals on their handset.
The handset maker has launched the new device in the Indian market with the dated Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system out of the box. While the operating system happens to be a dated one, it still is one of the most stable release from Google. This ensures that the smartphone user will have a good user experience to enjoy.
Performance and Battery Life
Coolpad Dazen 1 comes with a Quad-core processor that has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz and offers a decent performance to its users. The processor of the smartphone is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM for ensuring that the performance offered by the device is consistent. Also, the rear panel of the handset houses a 2500 mAh battery that can easily last a whole day on modest usage.
Coolpad has equipped the rear panel of Dazen 1 with a decent 8 Megapixels snapper that is good enough for day to day photography. Coming to the front panel of the handset, there is a 5 Megapixels snapper that will appeal to those who like to click selfies.
Coolpad Dazen 1 is a Dual SIM handset that comes with support for both 4G LTE and 3G connectivity to facilitate ultra fast Internet browsing on the go. Other connectivity options on the handset are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS.
Coolpad Dazen 1 is a good launch for a company that is making its debut in the ultra competitive Indian smartphone market. However, the device may face a setback since the brand is not known and features of the handset are slightly on the modest side.
