The Chinese handset makers are taking a serious plunge these days when it comes to new launches and Gionee is not far behind. The brand that is known for some of the slimmest handsets on the block has been launching new devices for a while now. Gionee has now gone ahead and launched an entry level budget smartphone called P5W. The India launch of the new handset is imminent and here is a brief overview of the handset.
At the first glance, Gionee P5W reminds us of Apple iPhone 5C and Xiaomi Redmi 2 owing to its make and colors being offered. Gionee is offering the new handset with polycarbonate unibody design in various bright colors. The rest of its design is quite plane Jane with nothing to write home about.
For multimedia lovers and game player, Gionee has equipped its latest device with a decent 5-inch display with IPS oncell panel for better clarity. The display also offers a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels for its users to enjoy HD content.
For a commendable user experience, Gionee has pre-installed Android 5.1 lollipop operating system in this handset. The user experience offered is further enhanced by Gionee's own Amigo UI, which offers a number of additional features over stock Android.
Performance and Battery Life
This entry-level budget segment handset has been designed to perform fluently owing to the Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The handset also has 1 GB of RAM at its disposal to support running apps and processes. For a longer battery backup, Gionee has equipped this smartphone with a 2000 mAh battery.
Gionee has placed a decent 5 Megapixels primary camera on the rear panel of this handset, which these days is more commonplace on the front panel. The front panel of the handset on the other hand houses a mediocre 2 Megapixels snapper.
This handset is a dual SIM device that misses out on the 4G LTE connectivity and makes do with 3G instead, which is quite fast by itself. Other connectivity options on this handset include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, microUSB, Bluetooth and GPS.
Gionee has launched an impressive budget segment smartphone in form of P5W and it is worth a recommendation. However, there are better handsets from much acclaimed brands in the Indian handset market, which make for a better value for money. On the other hand, if you are looking for a chic handset that will also perform decently, this is the handset for you.
