HTC has bifurcated its smartphone offerings in two different ranges - the One range deals with high-end and flagship smartphones while the Desire series begins its dealings with budget smartphones and goes all the way up to high-end smartphones. The Desire range, as a result, comprises of a lot of smartphones across various price brackets. But ever since it has re-emerged to the fore, the Desire range has not been able to capture attention of users. To ensure there is enough user interest in desire range, HTC has brought out the Desire 626G Plus.
Design: The HTC Desire 626G Plus sports 70.9mmx146.9mmx8.19mm (lxbxh) as its dimensions and it weighs 138gm. Plastic construction has helped Desire 626G Plus in staying lightweight and the fit and finish also is of top-notch quality.
Display: The Desire 626G Plus sports a 5-inch screen that puts out display resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The pixels per inch ratings stands at 294 and it supports multi-touch. Other than that, it is a standard IPS LCD display.
Camera: The HTC Desire 626G Plus sports a 13MP camera on the back and a 5-megapixel one on the front. The rear camera comes with a BSI sensor, F/2.2 aperture, LED flash and auto-focus features. The front camera is a standard fixed-focus wide-view unit with a BSI sensor and F/2.8 aperture.
OS and special features: The HTC Desire 626G Plus runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with smartphone maker's Sense UI 6 skin on top of it. HTC seems to be working on rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Desire 626G Plus. You get 8GB internal storage space and you can use a microSD card to expand it up to 64GB. There is 3G network capabilities present on the smartphone along with Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. A microUSB port and dual SIM features seal the deal.
Performance and battery life: The HTC Desire 626G Plus sports a 1.7GHz octa-core processor of unknown make and has been paired with 1GB RAM. Not the most powerful combination, it should be able to help you deal with daily tasks and power-hungry tasks with relative ease. Powering the hardware is a 2000mAh battery whose ratings are not available.
The Desire 626G Plus enters a space which was dominated by Moto G and later by ZenFone 5. A smartphone to trump either of the two is yet to arrive in their space, which now also accommodates the Desire 626G Plus. What the Desire 626G Plus brings to the fore is great cameras (on paper), big battery and the same build as seen on the rest of the constituents of the Desire range. What is missing from the package is information on whether HTC will roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Desire 626G Plus. Barring that, the Desire 626G Plus gives us few reasons to complain about.
