|Flipkart||Moto G (2nd Generation) (Black, 16 GB)(1 GB RAM)||Rs. 8,999|
Motorola served a winner to Indian smartphone market when it came up with the Moto G and placed it against the mid-range segment smartphone players. Moto G became an instant success and paved the way for Moto E to be received as warmly as its elder brother was. There was hardly anything wrong with the Moto G, be it on the software or the hardware front. But a few months later, Motorola thought it wise to update its mid-range smartphone and brought out the second generation of Moto G. We here will try to find out just how good an already great device has become.
The second generation Moto G sports 70.7mmx141.5mmx11mm (lxbxh) as its dimensions and weighs 149gm. The second generation Moto G is a big device and may seem heavy on paper, but feels quite nice when held in hand.
The second generation Moto G sports a 5-inch screen that puts out display resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The pixels per inch ratings stands at 294 and there are no qualms to be made about the screen and/or its quality on second generation Moto G. Other than that, it is a usual IPS LCD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The second generation Motorola Moto G runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update can be downloaded and installed via OTA. You get 16GB internal storage space and you can use a microSD card to expand it up to 32GB.
Performance and Battery Life
The second generation Moto G sports a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and has been paired with 1GB RAM. Not the most powerful combination, but should help you getting done with your tasks and powering the hardware is a 2070mAh battery which may not be huge but can still survive through 12 hours of usage on a single full charge.
The second generation Moto G sports an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel one on the front. The rear camera comes with an LED flash and also has auto-focus, slo-mo video, burst mode, auto HDR, Panorama and tap to focus features to boast of. The front-facing unit is a simple fixed-focus unit.
There is 3G network capabilities present on the smartphone along with Wifi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS/A-GPS with GLONASS. A microUSB port with OTG functionality and dual SIM seal the deal.
The first generation Moto G was an already stellar device with great specs and it took over the mid-range smartphone market almost instantaneously. The second generation device just makes the entire package a way better purchase proposition. The screen has grown bigger, the battery size has increased and there is expandable storage, for starters. For almost the same price as the first generation Moto G was, the second generation device is just a way better value-for-money device. We would just ask you to pick one up if you find it anywhere.
