Motorola has really managed to step up its game in India as well as world over with its Moto series of smartphones. So much so that speculations are being crafted for the next generations of its Moto G smartphone. However, all speculations has already been put to a stop since the latest device has made its debut in India. Apart from some cosmetic changes, there are not many groundbreaking changes in the handset.
The design is much more elegant and stylish then previous two generations of the handset. While the front of the handset remains unchanged with similar front firing dual speakers like the Moto G 2nd Generation. However, the actual change is visible on the rear panel of the device. Motorola has chosen to retain the dimple with its logo inside, however, this time around the camera and the logo is nestled on a metallic strip that lends it an elegant touch. The rest of the design including the placement of the ports and buttons remains the same.
Coming to the display of the handset, the handset manufacturer retains the 5-inch IPS LCD display from the previous generation of the smartphone. The display also offers the same 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, which means that the display is still a delight to look at. The handset also comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection.
The all new smartphone comes with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, out of the box. Furthermore, it also happens to be one of the first in line to receive the upcoming Android M update. With the visually appealing Material design introduced in Lollipop and host of innovative features that Android M brings to the plate, user experience is bound to be anything but pleasant.
Performance and Battery Life
We have already mentioned that the user experience is beyond pleasant on the new Moto G device and the same is enhanced by the performance. It comes with a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor that has been clocked at 1.4 GHz for smooth and fast performance. The processor has been coupled with 1 GB of RAM that provides ample memory for the device to perform at its best. Motorola has equipped the handset with a 2470 mAh battery unit that has been rated to deliver a backup of 24 hours on mixed usage.
The new Moto G comes with a powerful setup of cameras that is a bump up from the previous generation smartphone. It boasts of an improved 13 MP primary camera on the rear panel that will appeal to the photography lovers. On the other hand, the front panel of the handset houses a 5 Megapixel snapper that will appeal to those love to click selfies.
We already have Octa-core devices like Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Mi4, Lenovo K3 Note and Samsung Galaxy S4 to name a few in this segment. All of these devices are much better as compared to the 3rd generation of Moto G. However, for Moto fans, it will turn out to be the best choice.
Despite having lesser specifications and performance chops than its competition in Indian market, Motorola has always come up on the top owing to the premium feel of its devices and value for money vis a vis brand value. Moto G 3rd Generation is an even more better looking handset than its predecessor and is expected to sell well in the country.
