Nokia X was the first device in the Finnish phone maker's X series of smartphones. It spawned a host of other devices like the XL and X Plus, but they are in spirit the same as Nokia X. Nokia came up with the X at a time when Android ruled the market(which it still continues to) to take advantage of the open-source OS and the benefits that accompany the adoption of Android OS.
But Nokia made some changes to Android and made it look more like Windows Phone OS and limited its acceptability of apps from Nokia Store and a few other third party app stores. In essence, you could have Android experience with a Nokia but not the flexibility that is the backbone of Android OS.
Nokia X comes with a 1GHz dual core processor and there is 512MB RAM too, but if you are looking at this phone as some big-league performer, get ready to be left disappointed. There is a 3 megapixel rear camera and no front camera has been fitted to the device. The phone is 3G ready and like mentioned before, there are apps available on Nokia Store and other third-party sources, but nothing in store for you on Google Play Store. There is 4GB internal storage and the space can be expanded up to 32GB. There is a 1500mAh battery and you can expect it to last for a day or even longer on a single full charge. The phone is available in Red, Green, Cyan, Black, White and Yellow colours.
Nokia made a bold move by bringing out the X series when its Lumia range of smartphones gained some traction in the smartphone market. But cutting down on Android's flexibility seems to have turned such a nice experiment into a total turn-off for smartphone fans and adopters alike.
