While Samsung took the smartphone industry by storm earlier this year with its Samsung Galaxy S8 Duo, it was the Galaxy Note 8 that was much anticipated. This was mainly owing to the fact that the previous Galaxy Note 7 bombed, quite literally. However, the Galaxy Note 8 has been out and about, and we are mighty impressed to say the least. While the handset is creating ruckus around the world with its power packed spec sheet, we take a look at why or why should you not buy the handset.
Why should you buy?
Both Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have manged to stun the Android market with their brilliant quad-HD+ and 18:9 aspect ratio bezel-less display. The Galaxy Note 8 comes with the same aspect ratio and resolution albeit with a slightly taller 6.3-inch display. Moreover, the display has the signature dual curved display, which brings a plethora of intriguing features on board along with stylus specific features.
Loaded spec sheet
It wouldn’t really be a flagship device if it does not get a spec sheet to go with it. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with either Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8895 processor. The SOC comes mated to massive RAM of 6GB. Moreover, the user interface of Samsung has been revamped with lesser bloatware and is now called Experience UI. The whole experience is now much better than ever before.
Dual camera module
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the first smartphone from the brand that comes with dual camera module on the rear panel. The camera on Samsung Galaxy S8 was really lauded for its imaging prowess and on Galaxy Note 8 that very camera is times 2. Both the cameras on the rear panel of Galaxy Note 8 has been equipped with OIS and come with same bells and whistles as the Galaxy S8.
Why should you not buy?
The Galaxy Note 8 series is known for their massive display and bulk ever since the first Galaxy Note came out. This year’s Galaxy Note 8 is no exception as it flaunts a chassis housing a massive 6.3-inch display. The bulk of the device also makes it uncomfortable to operate with one hand or access to the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel.
Awkward fingerprint placement
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus received flak only on one count viz. the fingerprint placement on the rear panel. This year, while the Galaxy Note 8 gets bigger, the fingerprint placement is still the same. This means that fingerprint scanner has moved further up and more difficult to reach.
There is no doubt regarding the fact that Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of the best smartphones in the market as of now. However, the heft price tag, bulky build and the awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner are some of the clinks in its armor.
