The Chinese handset maker has finally got around to launching its flagship device this year and we are surprised with its strategy as we were with Samsung's decision for a design change. Wondering what is the connection between these two brands? It so happens that Vivo has launched two devices called X Play 5 and X Play 5 Elite this year just like the South Korean brand. Besides being the first handsets to feature 6 GB of RAM, these two are also similar to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in every which way. Here is a brief overview of the most powerful handset in the market.
The design of XPlay 5 Elite seems to be quite uninspired or rather inspired from Samsung's Galaxy S7. It features the same complete metallic unibody design. Moreover, there is a square fingerprint scanner as well albeit on the rear panel unlike Galaxy S7, which has the same on front.
Vivo has equipped the new smartphone with a large 5.4-inch display that comes with dual curve edges for enhanced usage experience. The resolution offered by the handset is 1440 x 2560 pixels fo a Quad-HD viewing experience.
Performance and Battery Life
The handset has been bestowed with a powerful Octa-core processor with a massive clock speed of 1.8 GHz. The highlight of the handset however remains the mammoth 4 GB of RAM, which is unheard of. The handset is bound to be super fast and smooth. On the battery front as well, Vivo XPlay 5 Elite boasts of a large 3600 mAh battery for a longer duration.
Vivo has placed a good 16 Megapixels primary camera on the rear panel of this handset accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash. It also comes with a good 8 Megapixels camera on the front panel, which is a delight for selfie lovers.
This smartphone comes with latest connectivity options like NFC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS. It is a dual SIM device that offers both 4G LTE and 3G for high speed Internet.
It is expected that the brand will place the new handset in the range of INR 45,000 and if it happens, users are suggested to go for the actual Galaxy S6 Edge or S7 Edge. However, if the brand launches it at a much lower price than it would sell like hot cakes.
