Every smartphone maker has to come face to face with one reality which says that until they are present in the budget smartphone segment, they are not really progressing in the market (Apple is an exception to the rule, but then, its budget segment is equal to mid-range segment for Android smartphones). Vivo has realised the same and has brought to India the Y11 smartphone. As a budget segment offering, the Y11 has to be pretty competitive in terms of specs and price. Let us find out just what is it the Y11's spec sheet suggests.
The Y11 sports 62.5mmx123mmx8.75mm (lxbxh) as its dimensions and weighs 124gm. The Vivo Y11 is a nice device and feels quite nice when held in hand as its weight is also not much.
The Vivo Y11 sports a 4-inch screen that puts out display resolution of 800x480 pixels. The pixels per inch ratings stands at 233, however, Vivo could have used a 540p display instead of a 480p one. Other than that, it is a IPS LCD display with multi-touch support.
The Vivo Y11 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and has been skinned with the smartphone maker's proprietary Funtouch OS 2.0. No information on the availability of Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been provided by Vivo for Y11. You get 4GB internal storage space and you can use a microSD card to expand it up to 128GB.
Performance and Battery Life
The Vivo Y11 sports a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and has been paired with 512MB RAM. Not a powerful combination by any measure and should be able to help you dispatch daily tasks but do not expect it to handle heavy tasks with ease. Powering the hardware is a 1700mAh battery which should be able to survive for close to 6 hours of usage on a single full charge.
The Vivo Y11 sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel one on the front.
There is 3G network capabilities present on the smartphone along with Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS. A microUSB port with OTG functionality and dual SIM seal the deal. A number of sensors can be found on the Vivo Y11 which are accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.
The Vivo Y11 enters a hotly-contested space in the smartphone market and going by the way competition exists in this segment, the Y11 is surely going to be put through a fight. We feel the Y11 should be up to the task Vivo has entrusted it with, but only time will tell how the smartphone fares against its rivals.
