The Chinese handset maker, Vivo has been setting up a lineup for budget segment in Indian handset market and has launched a couple of interesting handset under INR 10,000. These handsets are all in its Y series and somehow seem to be missing out on one thing or other. The brand has now launched a new handset called Y55S, which still seems to be missing out on a lot of basic feature. And yet, somehow, Vivo felt that it belongs in the same price range as some of other much more powerful handsets. Here is a brief overview of the device for those who are looking for this one but should totally give it a miss.
2.5D scratch resistant glass: One of the very few advantages of owning this handset is that you would not be worrying about scratching or shattering your display from a short fall. The display of the handset has 2.5D scratch resistant layer on top, which protects the screen from minor scuffs and scratches.
Good selfie camera: Vivo has equipped the handset with a mediocre 5 Megapixels camera, which does not sounds out of ordinary. However, the features accompanying the camera are pretty impressive like f/2.2 aperture and screen flash feature. It will certainly appeal to those who love to click selfies.
No fingerprint scanner: This is beyond our comprehension that how could a brand that is trying to establish itself in the budget segment could miss out on the most basic feature. Coming to the point, the handset does not have any fingerprint scanner, which will put off a lot of potential buyers.
Comparatively poor performing processor: The handset comes with one of the most basic processor there is viz. Snapdragon 425. There are handsets at this price, which come with deca-core or even much advanced Snadragon 6XX SoC onboard.
