Lenovo-owned Motorola recently had a sort of lull in the Indian market as it has been beaten at its own game by Chinese players like Xiaomi and Realme in the past couple of years. However, the brand is looking to hit back at competition by jumping back with a new category - smart televisions. Motorola will unveil its first-ever smart TV in India on September 16 at an event in New Delhi.
According to a report from our good friends at 91Mobiles, Motorola smart TVs will be exclusively sold via Flipkart.com in India. The report also goes on to mention that the upcoming TVs will have MEMC tech to ensure smooth refresh rates, along with powerful 30W speakers. It will be a global-first launch for Motorola in India.
With launch scheduled for September 16, we can expect Motorola's smart TVs to go on sale during Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale that starts on September 29th. The TV is expected to launch in multiple sizes across different price segments.
The timing of the launch is questionable, especially because Xiaomi is all set to unveil its 65-inch Mi TV variant on September 17 and OnePlus also has plans to unveil its first smart TV (premium category) in the Indian market on September 26. Thus, considering two big electronics brands are launching their flagship products in a competitive market like India, Motorola should probably have a trick or two up its sleeve to take them on.
