Nike estimates that an astonishing 60% of the population is wearing wrong-sized shoes, something that shouldn't happen. The shoe manufacturer wants to make the world a better place by combining Augmented Reality (AR) with foot science to give you the perfect fit.
Starting July this year, you can walk into any Nike retail store in the US and be assured you get the right shoe size. Employee in Nike's retail stores will scan your feet using AR on their gadgets, and tell you exactly which size will fit you well in any lineup that Nike sells. Whether be it Air Jordans, FlyKnit, or AirForce, this technology will help you spend your money wisely.
Not just at stores, Nike is also incorporating this tech into its Android and iOS app. So, if you are ordering from home, just scan your feet using the app and get the best size. There's a lot that goes into the science of a foot.
To make this technology possible, Nike acquired an Israeli startup Invertex back in April 2018. The company worked with Nike's sports efforts, and brought it to the testing phase within 6 months of acquisition.
