Panasonic has been around in the Indian handset market for a while now. While the brand is mainly known for its affordable phones, it’s now stepping up its game by offering flagship features with its latest offerings. The brand has taken the covers off the Eluga X1 and Eluga X1 Pro, both of which come with the latest trends like the display notch and AI-enabled cameras. Considering the Panasonic Eluga X1 Pro is more powerful of the two, we decided to give it a closer look and give you a lowdown of everything that makes the smartphone special.
With most smartphones these days flaunt glossy finishes and two-tone gradients, Panasonic’s newest smartphone aims to stand out from the crowd. The Eluga X1 Pro happens to be one of the better-looking devices in its class, with stainless steel as the choice of construction material. The smartphone features a chrome finish on the sides and a glossy panel at the back, which lend it a premium feel. Combined with a near full-screen front, the handset will definitely turn heads wherever you go.
The Panasonic Eluga X1 Pro comes with an infinity display with a cut-out on the top, housing the selfie camera, IR sensor and the earpiece. The display measures 6.18-inches across the diagonal and comes with an aspect ratio of 19:9, with FHD+ screen resolution. This means that the handset offers a large display in the form factor of a conventional5.5-inch smartphone. Furthermore, the display gets Corning Gorilla Glass protection and a 2.5D layer on top, which makes the experience of watching a video or playing games more immersive.
Ticking at the core of the Eluga X1 Pro is the MediaTekHelio P60 SoC, which is an octa-core unit backed by ARM Mali-G72 MP3 graphics. Further, the chipset has been fabricated using the 12nm process, which strikes a good balance between performance and power consumption. Further, the processor has been backed by 6GB of RAM, which ensures a smooth multitasking experience.
That’s not all, the Panasonic smartphone comes with 128GB of internal storage, which should take care of all your multimedia needs. And should you run out of the space, there’s a microSD card slot, which allows you to expand storage up to 256GB, more than what you’ll ever need on your device.
The Eluga X1 comes with 4GB + 64GB variant.
Coming to the imaging department, Panasonic has equipped the Eluga X1 Pro with a powerful set of cameras backed by AI capabilities. The rear panel of the handset is home toa 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. The cameras can detect the scene and adjust exposure and other settings accordingly to get the best output. Further, there is a multi-mode, which lets users select the best preset based on the ambience or the subject. There is also an AI-powered slow motion video option, which can detect the motion and get the best out of the particular moment.
For selfies, the phone ships with a 16-megapixel front shooter, which gets AI Selfie, Face Beauty mode and Group Selfie features. The smartphone also comes with an AI-based Infrared face unlock feature, which detects the user’s face accurately and works even in the dark environments.
Panasonic has equipped the Eluga X1 Pro with a 3,000mAh battery. Working in conjunction with Helio P60, the handset should last long on a single charge. Moreover, the brand has added support for wireless charging in the smartphone, which is definitely a convenience and a premium feature found only in high-end flagships. Not only this, but the brand is also bundling the wireless charger with the device, which is unheard of in the smartphone industry. Even though the Eluga X1 misses out on the Wireless charging capability, Panasonic is bundling high-quality Panasonic Headphones with the device, which makes it a sweet deal as well.
Along with a stunning design, immersive display and a loaded spec sheet, what works in favour of the new Panasonic Eluga X1 Pro is its offline availability. Priced at Rs 26,990 and Rs. 22,990 for the Eluga X1, the latest offerings from the brand definitely come across as an attractive proposition in the mid-premium segment.
