Sony's Playstation 5 is touted to be the next big thing in the gaming industry, with launch expected sometime in the next few months. Expected to feature flagship hardware and a redesigned software experience, the Sony PS5 will likely be priced much higher than the PS4 Pro. Reportedly, the Sony PS5 has been listed in Sweden and has a premium price tag attached to it.
According to Swedish website MediaMarkt, which has listed the Sony PS5, the upcoming next-gen gaming console will be priced at 9,999 Swedish Krona which translates to around Rs 72,000. This is a hefty step up from price of the previous-gen Sony PS5. In fact, a Sony analyst Hideki Yasuda had previously claimed that the Sony PS5 will be priced around $499 or about Rs 34,500.
However, there is no reason to fret just yet. The listing on the Swedish website seems to be just a placeholder for now, considering there's not even the slight hint of a confirmation or pre-order from Sony itself.
In fact, the listing price is completely outlandish because even $499 expected price tag is much higher than the $399 price of the Sony PS4 at launch a few years ago.
According to rumours, the upcoming Sony Playstation 5 is expected to be powered by an AMD Ryzen CPU with eight cores and the new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture, a next-gen Radeon GPU capable of ray tracing, and a high performance solid state drive (SSD) for faster game read performance. The PlayStation 5 will take on Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox model, currently codenamed Anaconda.
