The Sony Playstation 5 is expected to be the next big thing when it comes to console gaming across the world. Its predecessor, the Sony PS4 recently completed 100 million shipments and expectations are at their highest when it comes to the next-gen gaming console. A new report has now surfaced online that suggests the Sony PS5 could be announced within the next six months from today.
Now that the Sony PS4 and Xbox One are nearing their life-cycles, news and rumours around their successors are abuzz online. A report by NeoGaf suggests that the Sony Playstation 5 will be announced by the Japanese electronics giant in February 2020, less than 6 months from now. The source cites an official letter sent across by a Senior Marketing Manager at Sony PlayStation.
According to the letter, an event titled "Playstation Meeting 2020" will be held on February 12, 2019. Other third-party publishers including Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Square Enix are expected to be part of this mega event, showcasing their respective games for the Sony PS5. This will be Sony's biggest after the PS4 launch in 2013.
The Sony PS4 was launched back in February of 2013, but was made available for purchase only by Fall that year. If the Sony PS5 is expected to follow a similar timeline, it will be made available in stores around October 2020.
