Chinese smartphone companies are known for making outrageous devices and also for their crazy marketing campaigns. But it seems, the company Iqoo, owned by Vivo, took things to the next level with their latest drop test for their upcoming gaming-focused smartphone.
Iqoo, to promote its unnamed gaming smartphone, was attached to a helium-filled balloon that transported it to the height of about 31,500 meters in the air. Once it reached a certain altitude, the smartphone was dropped in an amazing freefall.
Surprisingly enough, the phone appears to have survived the massive fall, which if true, further shows its brilliant build quality. Apart from the drop from an altitude of 1 lakh+ feet, the phone also survived temperatures as low as -56 degrees celsius, and air pressure of the stratosphere.
Once it fell to the ground, Vivo's spin-off brand Iqoo sent out drones and Mitsubishi Pajeros to locate the phone. Once found, the screen had minor damage however the camera was still recording footage.
While Iqoo has not given out any major specifications of the smartphone yet, however we do know that it has a 4000mAh battery with support for 44W fast charging capabilities, one of the fastest standards available in the world.
